What Is Concrete Surface Preparation?
Concrete surface preparation is the process of grinding and profiling a slab to create the correct substrate for a new coating, polishing system, or flooring installation. This includes removing existing coatings, adhesives, tile, glue, and surface contaminants.
Profile is measured in CSP (Concrete Surface Profile) — a standardized scale from CSP 1 (very smooth) to CSP 10 (very rough). The correct CSP depends on the system being applied. We grind to the specified CSP and confirm the surface is clean, flat, and ready before the next trade takes over.
This is also the correct first step for any polishing project. Proper surface preparation determines the quality of everything that follows — skipping it or doing it incorrectly creates problems that compound through every subsequent step.
